𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲: 𝗔 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
On 27th April, a group of dedicated WWAC volunteers and supporters embarked on an inspiring journey by participating in The Mighty Stride, a 22.6-mile Kiltwalk in Glasgow.
This event was not just a physical challenge but a testament to the resilience and determination of individuals who have been impacted by cancer and are committed to making a difference.
Given the rural location of Wigtownshire, cancer patients often face the daunting task of traveling between 50 to 140 miles for essential treatment. These journeys are not only physically exhausting but also financially burdensome, especially when compounded by the challenges of illness. Our fundraising efforts aimed to alleviate some of these burdens for cancer patients from Wigtownshire.
Together, we raised a 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐘 £𝟖𝟑𝟏𝟓.𝟓𝟎! This incredible achievement would not have been possible without the generous contributions of our supporters. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated and supported our cause. Your contributions will directly help provide much-needed respite for patients and their families, offering them a chance for a healing, therapeutic break, care boxes, pamper sessions, and wellbeing support.
A cancer diagnosis affects not just the individual but the entire family. At WWAC, we believe in supporting everyone impacted by cancer, ensuring they have the opportunity to rest and recover. Your continued support is crucial in helping us provide these vital services and make a significant impact on the lives of those coping with cancer treatment in Wigtownshire.
It's important to note that in 2024, 4,526 charities closed due to a lack of funding. Your ongoing support allows us to continue offering our essential cancer support services for many years to come.
Special thanks to Mark Scarlett Visuals for the photography and unwavering support.
Thank you for being a part of this journey and for making a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. Together, we stride forward with hope and resilience.

This support isn’t just about helping us now – it’s a step toward ensuring we’re here for the long term. By building a strong foundation, we’re working to make sure WWAC can keep supporting people across Wigtownshire for years to come.
A huge thank you to Kilgallioch Wind Farm Community Fund for believing in what we do. Together, we’re building a stronger, more caring community!
We are now a Registered Charity!
WWAC has officially been granted charitable status. 🙌
OSCR provided us with one recommendation, which we’ve gladly implemented. In our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, we’ve updated our name to Wigtownshire Wellbeing and Cancer (WWAC).
Rest assured, nothing else changes—our mission and dedication remain the same!
Thank you, to each and everyone of our funders and supporters.
Your support and dedication to WWAC is phenomenal.
Without you, it quite simply wouldn't be possible!❤️

All of the participants had been impacted by cancer and wanted to keep making a difference.
Given the rural location of Wigtownshire, people diagnosed with cancer often find themselves having to travel anything from 50 to 140 miles for essential treatment. Our fundraising efforts were aimed to help cancer patients from Wigtownshire who must undertake these challenging journeys. The ordeal is strenuous, compounded by the difficulties of illness, making the back-and-forth travel both physically draining and financially burdensome.
𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝘄𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗠𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗬 £𝟲𝟮𝟮𝟭.𝟱𝟬!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed to our cause, which will help alleviate this strain by subsidising the expenses for an overnight stay in a hotel, eliminating the need for a round trip in a single day.
Your generous donations will directly contribute to covering these costs, providing much-needed respite for patients and their families. Your support will significantly impact the lives of people in Wigtownshire having to cope with the trials of cancer treatment.
Special thanks to Mark Scarlett Visuals for the photography and support.
